TALLYGENICOM PASSES THE TEST FOR SHEPSHED BUILDING SOCIETY

Shepshed Building Society has been serving the local community in Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire for over 125 years, offering independent financial advice and competitive rates on mortgages, saving accounts, bonds, and ISAs. Despite this long track record, until last year, clerks had to laboriously fill in customer passbook entries by hand, significantly hampering the efficiency of staff and the service to its customers.

“We are a building society steeped in tradition,” explains Shepshed Building Society IT Manager, Stewart Hayles. “But wanted to bring ourselves up to date and embrace technology to provide our loyal customers with a faster, more efficient service.”

In order to make the right purchasing decision, Hayles evaluated a number of different printing solutions on the market, including TallyGenicom’s T5023 flatbed transactions printer. The T5023 can process media of diverse types, from passbooks and cheques, to receipts and invoice sheets. With ease of use a major feature, the T5023 includes both automatic paper alignment and automatic gap adjustment, and boasts unrivalled transaction times. A typical passbook takes only 2.2 seconds to print and the printer’s unobtrusive sound level is ideal for a busy working environment.

For Stewart Hayles, these features ensured that his decision became easy and he rolled out the T5023 across all of Shepshed Building Society’s branches. “TallyGenicom was recommended to me by numerous other local building societies, and I found them to be extremely price competitive.”

“The T5023 is a durable, robust, dependable printer that comes with five years warranty, supports a wide range of printing applications and includes a wholly secure command language demanded by the banking industry. It was ideal for Shepshed Building Society’s requirements,” explained TallyGenicom’s VP Marketing EMEA and Managing Director, Robin Edwardes.

“Installing the T5023s has significantly speeded up the process of serving customers,” explained Hayles. “We now bypass the physical process of writing down entries into the passbooks, but we also omit possible errors previously made by staff. Not to mention eliminating the problem of illegible hand writing!” In addition to the T5023s, Shepshed Building Society also took advantage of TallyGenicom’s ‘Service For Supplies’ scheme; a unique initiative for customers looking to reduce their ongoing printer costs. Within the program, TallyGenicom offers free on-site servicing for the TallyGenicom OEM standard consumables that Shepshed Building Society purchases for its 23 existing HP mono printers. With Service For Supplies, customers generally benefit from at least a ten percent saving on their consumables, and with the reassurance that their printer will be maintained at no extra cost.

TallyGenicom is the only UK printer vendor with its own in-house service operation, and its Service for Supplies programme has proven to be an extremely popular solution for companies looking to lower their printing costs while ensuring that the quality and reliability of output remains high.

“Service for Supplies allows companies such as Shepshed Building Society to protect themselves from unexpected maintenance and support costs, whilst significantly reducing their total printing spend. By eliminating service and support costs and providing competitive consumable pricing, Shepshed has been able to re-align its printing strategies and budgets to better suit the needs of its business,” explained Robin Edwardes.

Hayles has been delighted with his decision to implement the new passbook printers. “I have been very pleased with the both the T5023 printers and the Service For Supplies programme. TallyGenicom’s products and service has been extemporary, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone.”
