TALLYGENICOM LAUNCHES NEW 5040 PASSBOOK PRINTER
New Printer Boasts 25% Shorter Transaction Speeds 

TallyGenicom, a leading provider of focused, responsive business printers, today announced the availability of the new 5040 passbook printer for high street banks and building societies. The 5040 prints up to 400 characters per second, and rapidly processes media of diverse types ranging from passbooks and cheques to A5 receipts and A4 information sheets.

The 5040 boasts unrivalled transaction times of typically just 2.2 seconds for passbooks, 25% faster than previous models. Its flatbed design provides totally assured paper handling. Advanced features such as Automatic Paper Alignment of forms, such as passbooks, and Automatic Gap Adjustment of the printer head, offers unsurpassed ease-of-use for branch clerks. The printer presents the form against a hard edge, eliminating the possibility of document skew. A control panel with LCD display provides clear, easy to understand messages for efficient operation and support functions.

The new printer has the ability to connect to multiple hosts simultaneously. USB, serial and parallel interfaces are included as standard, for flexibility of connection to either single-station or multi-user operation.

Total cost of ownership figure is impressive. The printer offers a 10 million character ribbon, which is three times the life of ribbons used in competitive machines. Latest manufacturing techniques ensure cost of repair of the 5040 is also impressively competitive.

The standard 5040 supports a secure command language, as demanded within the banking environment to ensure secure printing transaction.

Other models are available with Magnetic Stripe encoding for reading customer account codes directly into the system, minimising user intervention.
