TALLYGENICOM
TO EDUCATE THE EDUCATION SECTOR
ON RENT-FREE PRINTING
Leading Printer Manufacturer Unlocks IT Budgets For
Schools, Colleges & Universities
TallyGenicom,
one of the world’s largest manufacturers of business
printers, has launched a ‘rent-free colour’
printer programme for schools, colleges and other
educational establishments. The initiative follows
research conducted by TallyGenicom at BETT 2004 which
revealed that many educational organisations, while
mindful of managing printing costs, remain wedded to
inefficient, expensive printing policies.
“Our survey reveals that many organisations across
the education spectrum are becoming more and more
aware of the need to manage printing costs,”
explains Robin Edwardes, Managing Director UK and MEA
for TallyGenicom. “The rent-free printer scheme will
allow schools, colleges and universities to maximise
their IT budgets. It removes the burden of initial
unit cost, offers a clear budgetary path for
consumables and provides free on-site servicing for
the full rental term.”
Under the scheme, educational organisations can
‘rent’ TallyGenicom’s flagship colour laser
printers, the T8024 or the 8008, for three years with
free servicing over that period.
To qualify for the scheme, users must purchase a starter kit consisting of cyan, yellow, magenta and black toners for £599 (T8024) or £299 (8008) and then buy at least one value-toner pack every 12 months (for either £299 or £349 dependent on printer model). When compared to the purchase price for both units - £999 for the T8024 and £299 for the 8008 - the benefits of the rent-free scheme are apparent.
Adds Edwardes: “This scheme allows education users
with a medium to high printing requirement to run a
class leading colour laser printer for free, for three
years. The only costs they will incur are replacement
consumables.”
With an ever increasing reliance on printed material -
the survey reveals that 78 percent of primary and
secondary school respondents are using more and more
printed matter - printing costs will continue to eat
away at IT budgets. Edwardes believes that by adopting
rent-free printer schemes, educational organisations
can not only save money, but also ensure they are
using the latest printer technologies for better
quality output and increased cost efficiency.
Concludes Edwardes: “For smaller schools and
education establishments there is an issue with the
inappropriate usage of expensive ink-jet printers. The
rent-free scheme allows these organisations to upgrade
to a brand new colour laser for a lot less money that
it would cost to buy one outright. For larger
organisations, it allows IT managers to equip
departments with state-of-the art kit yet save money
on their IT or capital expenditure budgets.”
