Target Express
T2030/T2130 Dot Matrix Printers & T6050 Line Printers
Leading independent distribution company, Target Worldwide Express, has purchased Tally matrix printers as part of an ongoing operation to automate its point of despatch service. The printing application involves printing barcodes on five-part despatch notes that allow for delivery to be tracked with accuracy. Tally printers being deployed encompass T2030, T2130 and T2170 dot matrix models and T6050 line printers.
Tally’s range of 6 printers is the largest colour range offered by any printer manufacturer. Tally offers resellers full sales and technical training on all its colour products, and employs its own service engineers to provide support in the field.
“As a 24-hour, one-stop delivery service to businesses, we are continually enhancing support systems to facilitate communications and service delivery to our customers” explains Mark Smith, IT Director for Target Worldwide Express. “Barcoding is an essential part of the tracking process. Barcodes permit faster and more accurate recording of information and help us respond quickly to enquiries and changes”
Target Worldwide Express has more than 46 sites in the UK, and some 2,300 employees involved in couriering parcels to businesses all over the UK. It has purchased a total of 55 matrix printers, which have been installed across the majority of sites.
He continues, “It is essential that back-office barcode printing operations are fast and achieve a consistent level of quality. After rigorous testing, we chose Tally line and dot matrix impact printers as they best matched these criteria. A fast throughput rate is essential as we typically print 8,500 consignment notes each day, the bulk of which are produced on T6040 line printers. Tally printers have maintained a good scan rate over the last two years and we are very happy with the service they provide”
As a recommendation from Tally reseller, Leeds Direct Distribution, the printers were easily integrated into the existing network, and Target Worldwide Express is continually upgrading to the latest Tally dot matrix and line printer offerings.
